Here’s the cutest video ever. If you don’t agree then I’m pretty sure you’re not human.

Some of you may have noticed the new header picture that I put up last night. It’s a picture that Katie took of Layla during our summer road trip. What you may not be able to tell is that Layla is sitting in the backseat of the car, but her chin is resting on the shoulder of the front passenger seat. And yes, she really did sleep like that for portions of the trip!

Sorry, Claire, but after reading this, I just had to post about it. I had no idea that bedbugs were seemlingly eradicated but have made a comeback in just the past few years. Poor Claire had to deal with them at McDaniel a few years ago, and I’m hoping the house I’m staying in (with similar dorm room furniture) won’t be affected too!

Sorry for the lack of posts, but I’m finally settling down in Westminster for the long winter’s nap at McDaniel College. Layla loves the farm house, I’m getting used to all the ins and outs of visiting lecturer-dom, and I’m missing Katie something terrible. I hope everyone is well, and I hope to post a little bit more once my computer and everything is all set up on campus.

He made it to 94, but one of the great intellectuals of the twentieth-century passed away earlier today. Milton Friedman, you will be missed.

My absence from posting can be best explained by the fact that I have been deep in thought lately about a very interesting opportunity. An opportunity that I have finally decided to embrace.
In mid-January, I will pack up a modest amount of things here in Seattle and drive across the country for a semester-long stay in Westminster, MD. That’s right, I will be teaching at my alma mater, McDaniel College. What’s more is that I will be taking over for my undergraduate mentor, Kevin McIntyre while he takes a sabbatical. I will be teaching two sections of Intermediate Macro and one section of Money and Financial Markets. It’s going to be a busy semester, but one that will hopefully be the line on my CV that sets me apart from other candidates as I enter the job market in Autumn 2008.
Layla-pup will be coming with me, but Katie will be staying here in Seattle as she finishes up her second Masters. It will be trying to be away from Katie that long, but we decided that this would give us the best shot at ending up where we want in the future. Besides, I’ll be flying back to Seattle every few weeks for dissertation meetings (hopefully I can keep everything rolling along on that front as well), so we should be able to manage.
I’ll write more about this opportunity in the future, but for now you just need to know that I’m very excited and already a little exhausted.
